Can someone go to the closing for me?

By Eugene Vigoa, Esq.

Absolutely, you can have someone go to the closing for you and sign all your documents. This is done with what's called a Power of Attorney. It gives someone else the power to sign on your behalf.

The only thing is you have to let the settlement agent know ahead of time because that Power of Attorney might have to be approved by the underwriter and if the buyer is assigned by Power of Attorney, that's allowed too and then the lender would have to approve it.
