Can I sign all the papers in advance and mail them to the closing or have my attorney take them to the closing?

Absolutely. You can sign all the documents ahead of time, especially if you're represented by an attorney because you can go to the attorney's office, the attorney can sit down with you, review all the documents, you can ask all the questions you have, and then overnight the documents to the settlement agent.
