Sometimes a buyer or the seller might request an extension on the closing date. For example, a seller might need more time to close out on open permit that is showing up on the municipal lien search.

 

The buyer on the other hand might need more time so they can get their mortgage. However, an extension of the closing date must be agreed by both the buyer and the seller.
