What are some of the key documents signed at the closing?

At the closing, you're going to sign several documents, the most important of course being the settlement statement. The settlement statement is an accounting of the cost of the closing. You should get the settlement statement before the closing so you can review them. If you're not going to be represented by a realtor, it's very important that you understand what you're being charged.

Other key documents obviously is a warranty deed. The warranty deed is a document that's recorded the transfer ownership from you, the seller, to the buyer. Then the settlement agent might have additional documents for you to sign such as a continuous marriage affidavit or a seller's affidavit or an owner's affidavit, but again you'll be told by the settlement agent which documents you need to sign.
