What are documentary stamp taxes?

Documentary stamps are a tax that is paid to the county in which the property is located. It is based off a formula. For example, in Broward, it is 70 cents on each $100, so if you're selling a home for $100,000, you multiply that by 0.70 and divide it by 100. That tax is paid by the seller.
