Is it necessary for me to hire an attorney to sell my home?

Florida does not require that you hire an attorney to sell your home or to buy a home. In fact, in Florida, a title company or an attorney can act as a settlement agent.

Of course that doesn't mean that you don't have the right to hire an attorney, you certainly do, and an attorney can help you review some of the documents that are required to close such as the title commitment, the municipal lien search, the stopple and of course resolve any issues that might come up with title.

Most importantly an attorney can answer the questions that you have and be with you at the closing, represent you at the closing. No it's not required that you have an attorney, but certainly you have the right to have an attorney represent you if you're selling your home.
